Proud to announce that I have a contract with HarperCollins to publish Law & Disorder: The Illiberal Takeover of Legal Education
When I started this newsletter, it came out of a freakish four-month experience with academic cancel culture where I faced an “investigation” into whether a tweet violated Georgetown University’s harassment and antidiscrimination policies. The tweet was poorly phrased, as I freely admitted, but how criticizing President Biden’s racist and sexist Supreme Court criteria can in turn be racist and sexist (and regardless not protected by an expansive speech and expression policy) is still beyond me. I won’t repeat the story here, other than to note that the posts documenting that ordeal have been among the most popular on this Substack.
And that’s probably why I was approached to write a book building on my “lived experience.” Now I’m proud to announce that I’m under contract with HarperCollins to publish Law & Disorder: The Illiberal Takeover of Legal Education. (Apparently “disorder” is my jam; you’ll recall that my last book, on judicial nominations and Supreme Court politics, is called Supreme Disorder.) It’s slated to come out in spring 2024—just in time for graduation season. Here’s how I’m envisioning the project.
